Exam Detail

Railway Recruitment Board conducts the Assistant Loco Pilot & Technician exam. Loco pilot is the post in which employee assists the drivers which pilots the train. Loco Pilot gives the right directions to the piloting person according to the signal lights. The exam is conducted in multiple stages. The below are the details of the exam and exam patterns.

The contents of candidates in regarding relaxation in upper age limit/ maximum age for various categories/communities to be read as under:

Educational qualification:

ASSISTANT LOCO PILOT:

• 3 years Diploma in Mechanical / Electrical / Electronics / Automobile Engineering
• Matriculation / SSLC plus Course Completed Act Apprenticeship in the trades.
• Engineering Degree/ Matriculation / SSLC plus ITI from recognized institutions of NCVT/SCVT in the trades of Armature and Coil Winder / Electrician / Electronics Mechanic / Fitter / Heat Engine / Instrument Mechanic / Machinist / Mechanic Diesel / Mechanic Motor Vehicle / Millwright Maintenance Mechanic / Mechanic Radio & TV / Refrigeration and Air-conditioning Mechanic / Tractor Mechanic / Turner / Wireman.
• Combination of various streams of these Engineering disciplines from a recognized Institution in lieu of ITI

TECHNICIAN GRADE III:

• Matriculation / SSLC plus Course Completed Act Apprenticeship in the trades
• Matriculation / SSLC plus ITI from recognized institutions of NCVT/SCVT in the specified trades.

EXAM PATTERN:

First stage CBT 1:

• Will consist of multiple-choice objective type questions: in 15 languages (Hindi, English, Urdu, Assamese, Bengali, Gujarati, Kannada, Konkani, Malayalam, Manipuri, Marathi, Odia, Punjabi, Tamil and Telugu)
• Minimum percentage of marks for various categories are : UR -40%, OBC-30%, SC-30%, ST -25%.
• There will be a negative Mark for every wrong answer 1/3 marks will be deducted.

Second Stage of CBT:

• It consist of multiple-choice objective type questions: bilingual (Hindi/English)
• Minimum percentage of marks in various categories are : UR -40%, OBC-30%, SC-30%, ST -25%.
• There will be a negative Mark for every wrong answer 1/3 marks will be deducted.

PART-B:

• Qualifying Mark: 35 % (This is applicable to all candidates and no relaxation is permissible)
• This part is qualifying in nature and shall have questions from the trade syllabus prescribed by Director General of Employment & Training (DGET)

Computer Based Aptitiude Test (for Candidates who have opted for ALP):

• There shall be no negative marking in Computer Based AT.
• The candidate needs to secure a minimum score of 42 marks in each of the test batteries to qualify. This is applicable to all candidates and no relaxation is permissible.
• The ALP merit list will be drawn from the candidates Who is qualifying in the Aptitude Test, with 70% of the marks obtained in the Part A of Second Stage CBT and 30%  of the marks obtained in Computer Based AT
