Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman Heads the 20th Meeting of the Financial Stability and Development Council (FSDC) in New Delhi
Union Minister of Finance and Corporate Affairs, Smt. Nirmala Sitharaman chaired the 20th Meeting of FSDC, held at New Delhi. The meeting was attended by the senior officers of the Government of India and the Financial Sector Regulators. The Meeting reviewed the current global and domestic economic situation and financial stability issues including, other factors those concerning Banking and NBFCs. The Council was also explained about the progress made towards setting-up of the Financial Data Management Centre (FDMC) to facilitate integrated data collection and analysis as also a Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT-Fin) towards strengthening the cyber security framework for the financial sector.
Government to Set Up 51 New Startup Incubators Across India
The government of India is to set up 51 new startup incubators across India as part of its Technology Incubation and Development of Entrepreneurs (TIDE) 2.0 scheme to support startups and entrepreneurs working in the information and communications technology field. Under this scheme they will provide financial and technical support to incubators supporting ICT startups that use profound technologies including artificial intelligence, Blockchain, robotics, and internet of things in the identified areas of social significance.
According to Asian Development Bank Bangladesh Emerged as the Fastest Economy in Asia-Pacific
According to Asian Development Bank Bangladesh has emerged as the fastest growing economy amongst the 45 countries of the Asia-Pacific region. Higher public sector investment, stronger consumption demand, revival in exports, improved power supply and higher growth in private sector credit are the key factors of the high growth performance of Bangladesh. In the financial year 2018-19 Bangladesh achieved a growth rate of 7.9 % which is its fastest rate since 1974. As per the bank in coming financial year the growth rate will reach to 8%.
Indian Engineer Nitesh Kumar Jangir Won Innovation Award in UK
Nitesh Kumar Jangir, an Indian engineer has won the 2019 Commonwealth Secretary General's Innovation for Sustainable Development Award in the “People” category in London. He won this award for creating a breathing support device to tackle avoidable deaths of premature babies from respiratory distress syndrome. The device is named as “Saans”.
India Grants $15 Million to Niger for Organizing African Union Summit
India has extended $15 million grant assistance to Niger in support of organising the African Union (AU) Summit. This summit will take place in Niamey on 7th next month. India is also building a convention centre in Niger as part of a plan to build chain convention centres across 20 African states as signature infrastructure projects.
Microsoft's Satya Nadella, Adobe's Shantanu Narayen Ranked Among Top 10 US CEOs
According to an annual survey by employment website Glassdoor, Patrick Gelsinger, the chief executive officer of Silicon Valley software maker VMware Inc., was ranked the best CEO in America. Shantanu Narayen and Satya Nadella were given the fifth and sixth positions, respectively. Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg came in at 55, and Apple’s Tim Cook was ranked 69 in the list of best CEOs. US Overtakes China as India's Largest Goods Trading Partner in the Year 2018-19
The US overtook China to become India’s largest goods trading partner in 2018-19. Trade surplus of India with the US declined to $16.8 billion from $21.2 billion for 2017-18. The two-sided goods trade between India and the US was $87.95 billion during the financial year compared to $87 billion between India and China.
Fresh Triple Talaq Bill Introduced In Lok Sabha
The government introduced the fresh triple talaq bill in the Lok Sabha. Members of opposition protested against the bill. The Muslim Women (Protection of Rights on Marriage) Bill, 2019 became the first bill to be recorded in Parliament by the Narendra Modi dispensation in its second term. The bill was introduced following a division of votes, with 186 members supporting and 74 opposing the bill.

The iconic and the ethnic footwear brand Kolhapuri Chappal has been granted the GI tag. World famous handcrafted footwear, Kolhapuri Chappal got the tag from The Controller General of Patents, Designs and Trade Mark. The tag was given to the states of Maharashtra and Karnataka, covering four districts in each state. Under The Bharat Mala Scheme, 35000 Km Highways to Be Built By 2022
President of India Ramnath Kovind, while addressing both the houses of parliament announced that under the “Bharatmala Project”, construction or upgradation of around 35,000 kilometres of national highways is to be undertaken by 2022. Mathura Gets First Ever Water Clinic for Elephants
India has opened its first ever dedicated hydrotherapy treatment centre for elephants in Mathura, Uttar Pradesh. The elephants suffering from arthritis, joint pain and foot diseases will be treated here. It is a association of Uttar Pradesh Forest Department and the NGO Wildlife SOS. The clinic is named as The jumbo hydrotherapy centre which has wireless digital X-ray, laser treatment, dental X-ray, thermal imaging and ultrasonography to treat injured, sick and elderly elephants.
India Has Highest Data Usage per Smartphone in the World at 9.8 GB per Month
A report from Ericson says Indians use the world’s highest data per smartphone at an average of 9.8GB per month. It is set to be doubled by the year 2024. North East Asia comes second with 7.1GB per month while West Asia and Africa region is the lowest at 3GB per month. The report is released for the year 2018. The report also says that Indian smartphone users are ready to pay more than 66% premium for futuristic 5G services.

International Day of Yoga is observed every year on 21st of June around the globe to spread the awareness about yoga and its benefits. The yoga day was first observed in 2015. There were two themes for World Yoga Day 2019, United Nation had declared theme as “Yoga for Climate Action” and Ministry of Ayush, India had declared theme for Yoga Day is “Yoga for Heart”. Prime Minister’s Award for outstanding contribution for promotion and development of Yoga were given on the occasion of Yoga Day.
